Ranking Sin

We christians have the habit of ranking sin. We like to make certain “sins” worse than the others, and sometimes we forget we are to primarily “police” the Church and not the world. But, ironically, if I were to rank sin, I would rank the sin of “pride” as #1. Perhaps, to be more specific, spiritual pride.

Spiritual pride has done the most damage within the Church. Learn from the history. Many have not recognized us as God’s people while we are to be recognised by our traits of love. After years, I find the teachers I look up to are not the ones who are only insightful, but are also full of grace and humility.

Anyways, what is pride and why do I think it is the worst sin out of all, especially in the Church?

Pride says, I have the whole Christ.
Pride says, I am the one who builds the Church.
Pride says, I am the one who fulfills the Church.

Pride says, I have seen everything that God is.
“Oh God! Open his blind eyes.”,
not knowing your own pride has blinded your own.

Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my denomination is better.
Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my organization is better.
Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my movement is better.
Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my religious clique is better.

Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my spiritual gift is better.
Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my doctrine is better.
Pride says, “let us be one.”, but my theology is better.

Pride says, appreciate me!
Pride says, praise me!
Pride says, worship me!

Pride either says, I don’t need God.
Or, I am God.
